Semiotic Theory

Semiotic Theory was brain child of a man called Ferdinand De Saussre, the theory explains the process of how people interpret signs that we see and thing that we hear, an example of this would be the different emotions that we show when shown different images or colours.

For instance the colour Green is related to the emotion of envy and the colour red is said to interpret the emotion of anger.
This proccess has a spercific order this order is: Sign - Signifier - Signified

Another example would be the weather, if it is sunny the emotion related is happy so the order would be Sunny - Pop Music/happy tunes- Happy

in relation to my magazine i will use semiotic theory in the way i produce my images, the images in my mag will relate to the spercific content in the mag. if the caption is about summer there will be a light action image next to it and if there is a caption on winnter or somthing relating to that then the image will be dark and and dull image.
